Considerations

- Water impact
- Energy use
- Land use
- Greenhouse gas emissions
- Human and eco-toxicity
- Garment care impacts (such as dry-cleaning)
- Accessibility and price
Investment-worthy
Blackstrad pieces are designed as investment-worthy staples, redefining concert attire for the modern musician. Forget the old white ties and stiff tailcoats—we're bringing a fresh, minimalist take on concert black that’s forward-looking. Our clothes are not only easy to wear but also machine-washable, crafted for long-term use concert after concert, season after season.
We launch each new product in small batches, producing more only when we know it’s what you want. By using real data from your purchases, pre-orders, and waitlist requests, we get laser-focused on creating pieces you love. This approach helps us minimize waste, maximize efficiency, and be thoughtful with our resources.
This Season’s Fabrics
Recycled Polyester:
Our recycled polyester saves materials from landfills and oceans, using less energy and reducing CO2 emissions compared to virgin polyester. We sourced ours from Greece, featuring a crinkle satin finish that’s wrinkle-resistant and eco-friendly—because looking good shouldn't harm the planet.
Garment Care
Fashion is inherently resource-intensive, but we're committed to continuously reducing our impact. That’s why we encourage responsible garment care:
• Wash only as needed (e.g., every 3 - 5 wears)
• Set machine to COLD water
• Turn garments inside out to prevent pilling, or toss them in a washable garment bag
• Hang clothes to dry
• Remove any wrinkles with steam, DO NOT IRON.
By caring for your clothes thoughtfully, you extend their life—and reduce your own environmental footprint.
Packaging
Our packaging is designed with circularity in mind. From compostable poly mailers to FSC®-certified paper bags, we prioritize recyclable and eco-friendly materials. All our packaging is BPA-free and Made in the USA, keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible.
Shipping
We encourage customers to choose slower shipping options to further reduce their carbon footprint. Our first collection was entirely manufactured in Los Angeles, minimizing transportation impacts.
End-of-Life Initiatives
When a piece reaches the end of its life with us, we donate to local music programs, recycle, or repair it to limit waste. Design samples and customer returns find new homes through music programs, while we make strides in responsible disposal and circularity.
