FAQs
What is Blackstrad?
While Blackstrad is still in its infancy, we aim to be your online department store for all things concert black.
What is a "Concert Black Dress Code"?
Check out our blog post, chock full of free concert black resources here.
What is the difference between the Pro Collection and the Curated Collection?
The Pro Collection was designed for professional musicians (and anyone who wants to dress like a pro!) and uses the highest-quality eco-friendly fabrics and manufacturing so each piece is designed to last season after season, concert after concert.
The Curated Collection consists of additional pieces that we selected from trusted brands that meet standard concert black dress code requirements.
Who designed the Pro Collection?
The Pro Collection was designed by Mercedes Smith, Principal Flutist of the Utah Symphony.
When will menswear be available?
We hope to have samples ready this spring and product in stock before back-to-school.
Why don't you offer more concert black in plus size and petites?
Our goal is to have the most inclusive size range as soon as possible and for bulk/group pre-orders we can accommodate all sizes. (Lead time from order to delivery for bulk pre-orders is approximately 10 weeks.) Unfortunately, because of the way the industry works, it's extremely expensive for small businesses to keep all sizes in stock. Take a deep dive in these blog posts about the problem. Plus sizes are coming, thank you for your patience!
What discounts do you offer for group orders?
- For orders of 20+ items (can be a combination of different items) a discount of 30% will automatically appear in your cart at checkout
- For bulk pre-orders using a school purchase order for 20+ of a single item, we offer wholesale pricing starting summer 2025. Current bulk pre-order lead time is approximately 10 weeks.
Why are you making non-gendered attire and when will it be in stock?
Our market research indicated that over 50% of ensemble directors wanted more non-gendered options. We plan to release non-gendered options this summer, in time for back-to-school group orders.
